What to Expect

 

Our expert guide, Steph will take you on an immersive journey through the pine plantations of Oberon, a region renowned for its abundant saffron milk caps (Lactarius deliciosus) and slippery jacks (Suillus luteus). During the tour, you’ll learn how to:

• Identify edible mushrooms and distinguish them from toxic varieties

• Understand the ideal conditions for mushroom growth

• Safely harvest and store your finds

• Appreciate the ecological role of wild mushrooms

 

After foraging, learn how to prepare and cook your mushrooms, making for a truly rewarding paddock-to-plate experience.

• Location: Oberon, NSW

• Duration: 3 hours, 0am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm Thursday to Sunday

• Season: April to June – the peak season for wild mushrooms

Who Can Join?

 

This experience is suitable for all ages and requires a moderate level of walking through forested areas. However, please note that we do not accept guests with mobility issues due to the nature of the terrain.

*Please not that child seats are NOT included in the tour. The vehicle is fitted with 2 child safety anchors for use.
